"Quick Self Check for Anemia"

Iron Deficiency Anemia is easy to treat and correct if you and/or your physician knows it's there. Physician have been known to miss anemia, confusing it with other ailments such as emotional problems or nervous conditions. Instead of depending solely on your physician, there are ways to self check.

  • Press down for 2 seconds on an unpolished fingernail (The nail bed). The area will turn white, stop pressing and note how long it takes to return pink. 1-2 seconds is normal. The longer it takes for the pink to return, the more likely that you have anemia.
  • Gently pulling down the lower eyelids is another way to tell... If the blood vessels underneath your eyes are very pale, you may have anemia.
If you feel as if you may have anemia, you should see your physician (ND or MD). More serious problems can occur if left untreated.

"The Faces of Hypomania"

The Neurotic Disorder of Hypomania, I have found to be very interesting, due to its symptoms. Hypomania is different from most depressive disorders; as it presents itself as a mood disorder. Most people who deals with Hypomania, is characterized by a persistent and pervasive elated or irritable mood, Inflated self-esteem, increased talkativeness, increased activity, decreased need for sleep, grandiosity, racing thoughts, excessive involvement in pleasurable activities despite possible consequences, and an increase in goal-directed activity which makes it difficult to diagnose. This mood disorder is more so noticeable by others and is not considered to be a diagnosis unless three to four of the symptoms above appears. The episodes of hypomania usually do not present problems in family, work, or the social life.

Although; people with Hypomania is at most times cheerful, very energetic, euphoric, overflowing with new ideas, and sometimes highly confident and charismatic, unlike full-blown mania; It is unknown to what degree hypomania symptoms can occur without a depressive component. Patients are unlikely to seek psychiatric treatment for hypomania alone. However, hypomania is associated with impulsiveness, recklessness, excessive spending, risky sexual activity, and other out-of-character behavior that the patients may regret following the conclusion of the mood episode. Hypomania can signal the beginning of a more severe manic episode, or it often directly precedes a depressive episode.

Hypomania can impair a person’s judgment due to too much confidence. And although it masquerades it’s self as happiness, It is important that hypomania is diagnosed because it is an expression of bipolar and can spiral into depression and carry a risk of suicide.

Cold Sores and Natural Treatments

Herpes also know as cold sores are very contagious, so if your not careful you can pass them on to your spouse, your children, or anyone else who you share a glass with or kiss. Oral Herpes is the cousin to Herpes Simplex 2 (genital herpes). The herpes virus can not be cured. So when it's not presenting itself on or around your lips, It is lying dormant in the nerves near your brain stem. They seem to attack when your body is distracted fighting off a cold.
Here are some factors that may awaken cold sores:
Stress
Too Much Sunlight or Heat
Weak Immune System
Sickness (Colds)
Here are a few Natural Remedies that are a tremendous help:
Lysine: An effective virus blocker. There are salves. (Your local Whole food store probably has it.) The salve is very effective.
Food with Lysine: turkey, ricotta cheese, avocado, eggs, and chocolate.
Yogurt is a bacterial fighter. The acidophilus bacteria found in some brands of yogurt helps counter cold sores. If cold sores are chronic eat 2-3 cups a day. If you are lactose intolerant, there are dairy free brands. Such as soy, coconut, etc...
Ice: At the first sign of a cold sore, use Ice on the area for as long as it is comfortable, take a break, and then reapply. Viruses don't work well in cold environments.
Must Avoid
Arginine (A non-essential amino acid- This means that the body doesn't have to get it through food sources, we can make our own)...Foods with arginine, you must stir clear of; especially during outbreaks... Some foods are
Nuts (cashews, almonds, peanuts, walnuts), seeds (sunflower and sesame), milk and cheeses.

Schizophrenia/ Disperception.... The Disorder With No Real Clarity

Schizophrenia is a disorder with no real clarity. Its manifestations are unknown and it is unknown of whether schizophrenia has any real physiological or bio chemical basis. However, there are many descriptions that could actually make up a preliminary diagnosis for a mental illness. There could be external factors such as exposure to heavy metals and/ or intoxicants. There could also be Internal factors like PMS, lack of rest, over indulgence in certain foods. Never the less, doctors are constantly sorting through mental illnesses and continuously coming up with diagnosis in hopes of finding finding root causes for Mental illnesses.

Disperception is a term many Naturopathic Physicians choose to use in reference to a mild form of schizophrenia. Why? because the term schizophrenia is inadequate and misleading, except for the most severe cases like those who are thought to be suicidal, homicidal, and those who have lost touch with reality.

Schizophrenia is very difficult to define; there are some "well known" causes like sleep deprivation and drug intoxication. There are "less known" causes such as cerebral allergies or histapenia (copper overload), and "unknown causes" of possible serotonin imbalances or dopamines excess

However, when feelings of abnormal elation, depression, or unreality doesn't disappear with proper rest and healthy eating habits, then certain actions should be taken to help patients regain a normal mental balance so that they’re able to live a healthy quality life.

Here are some scientific articles on schizophernia:

"Understanding Brain Allergies"

A brain allergy derives from food intolerance.  A lot of patients who suffers from brain allergies have been labeled mentally ill or even schizophrenic. These "Allergic reactions" may show themselves in a number of ways like hyper activeness, impaired concentration, or irritability. This seems to mimic ADD, which comes from food dyes and/ or additives.

Foods such as milk, wheat, eggs, beef, corn, cane sugar, and chocolate has been pegged as being the syndrome of cerebral allergies in adults. Many times the allergies appear incognito at the state of ingestion, after a few hours, a severe let down occurs, which causes a feeling of confusion, depression, unclear thinking, sleepiness, headaches, etc… These allergies run in families just the same as pyroluria.
***Actually, a person who suffers from pyroluria often suffers from brain allergies.***

Using drug treatment on a person suffering with brain allergies can be harmful. Nutritional treatment is best; they should use the noted vitamins as a defense which is Vitamin C and B6 which will help to alleviate some of the allergic reactions. Other helpful vitamins and minerals are zinc manganese, calcium, and potassium. The suspected foods that cause these reactions should be eliminated for several months. Allergy testing can be done through a method called intradermal testing (skin testing), if you are unable to pinpoint certain allergens.

The best cure or help for patients with allergies is to eliminate toxic foods with pesticides, chemicals, preservatives, and additives; living a more organic and natural life style.

"Mental Illness...Not All in the Mind."

Many people are diagnosed with mental illnesses. Some illnesses are more complex than others; some can be controlled by avoidance of environmental situations; and some are controlled with drug treatments.

None the less people are suffering from depression, anxiety, fears, and phobias. Only until recently there hasn't been an Alternative to the unpleasantness of potential side effects of drug treatments.
Linus Pauling was the first to cue in on the treatment of disease with nutrients, which is considered, “The Orthomolecular Approach”. This approach consist of "eliminating". Eliminating poor diets of junk food overloads and supplying the body with large doses of essential vitamins, minerals, amino acids, etc…
In 1952, H. Osmond and A. Hoffer were two psychiatrists; who pinpointed and implemented mega vitamin treatments. This worked well for schizophrenic, LSD, and amphetamine psychosis patients, who were given large doses of niacin (B3). However; understanding that the orthomolecular approach takes months to receive the best results, the doctors realized that this approach would not be very useful in the treatment of pain, sleep disorders, headaches, and acute depression. This approach should be primarily used in the treatment of psychiatric disorders.
Mega nutrients (or) mega vitamins treats chemical imbalances that exist within, whether from their biological make up or caused by their environment. Orthomolecular medicine is very instrumental in teaching awareness; it helps in both preventative and corrective care.

Premarin & Prempro Users...What are You Taking???"

Premarin (Conjugated Estrogens) and Prempro” (Conjugated Estrogens/ Medroxyprogesterone) which is used to treat menopausal women and used as replacement therapy in other conditions of inadequate estrogen production. The Conjugated estrogens are extracted from the urine of pregnant horses. This is a real health risk to humans and equally inhumane to the mares and their foals.

In 1975 research started on this particular drug concluding with an ample of findings that put women at risk for endometrial cancer. Thereafter, the pharmaceutical companies which carried Premarin and Prempro started declaring risk warning labels of the drug. The National Institute of Health sponsored a clinical trial study that showed a large scale of Hormone Replacement Therapy; progestin and estrogen, may increase the risk of strokes, heart attacks, blood clots, and breast cancer.

Following this study, the pharmaceutical company “Wyeth” sales of Premarin and Prempro fell from 2 billion to 1 billion dollars in sales during 2002-2006. During the years of 2002-2009, 13,000 law suits had been filed against Wyeth. Many of the suits did not succeed due to plaintiff dismissals, ruling by judges, and verdicts by juries. But it still does not alleviate negligence on these companies part. In 2006, a Ms. Mary Daniels was awarded $1.5 million for damages. In 2007, there were 3 cases against Wyeth which was also awarded $17-$19 million apiece for their damages.

Other controversies surrounded Premarin and Prempro; which was from animal activist groups. Grievances were stated in the inhumane treatment during the pregnancies of mares and the undue stress that it places on them when extracting and provoking the urine. Accusations range from continuous breeding cycles, which sometimes resulted in the death of thousands of mares and their babies. The mares being stabled six months out of the year once impregnated. These mares are also restrained with plastic urine collection bags which cause skin irritations and infections as well as causing limited movement.

These farms have been in existence since 1942, and within these times there were huge masses of breeding (More pregnancies meant more urine and more money). There had become an over population of foal. Many of the foals were unwanted and sent to slaughter. As the turn of the century progressed, pharmaceutical companies cut back on the need for large doses of mare urine and thought that less was safer which cause for downsizing.

There are other uses for Premarin and some of those are for treatment associated with metastatic breast cancer in both men and women, prostate cancer in men, it’s also used for individuals who lack the production of estrogen.

In closing, when we are considering sponsoring, investing, prescribing or using pharmaceutical; we must know exactly who these companies are and find out as much detail as we can possibly can about them and their products, foremost the ingredients. If we join them, we will be accountable in the sight of God, just as they will be accountable.

Male Breast Cancer Awareness

Although breast cancer among men is not common, it is still a very real risk. Men should equally become aware of the signs and symptoms just the same as women. Based on the finding of the CDC and The National Cancer Institute, breast cancer among men can happen at any age; However, the most targeted ages are between 60-70 yrs old.
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/treatment/malebreast/patient
Anatomy of the male breast; drawing shows the nipple, areola, fatty tissue, ducts, nearby lymph nodes, ribs, and muscle.Men are much more simpler to study than women. Their risk of developing breast cancer is not complicated by factors of reproduction, breast feeding, menstruation and hormones replacement therapy. But, Environmental factors and toxins can link to breast cancer in males. Example: There is new evidence that chemical pollution may be linked to breast cancer in males at Camp Lejeune, Military base in North Carolina.... "Almost 80 men who lived or were born at Camp Lejeune have been diagnosed with male breast cancer. EWG has urged Congress and the Obama administration to stand up for these men and their dependent children. Pollution at Camp Lejeune is the largest incident of environmental contamination at any U.S. military facility on record...."

"Controlled Conflict... The Paradox Prescription III"

For most of us, when thinking of conflict, we start to stress. Adrenal starts to pump. And we immediately move from relax mode into self defense. But, Conflict doesn't have to be a bad thing. We should want to learn to deal with conflicts in a healthy way; after all,..."Conflict is a part of life."

With disagreements and confrontations we tend to treat them aggressively due to feeling threatened or unheard. We will sometimes wish that the conflict would just disappear miraculously... But, what I have learned is that the absence of conflict doesn't make life easier or less stressful, it can actually bring about more difficulties and pain (Physically, Spiritually, and Emotionally.) By learning how to control ourselves in times of conflict, we will do ourselves and others a huge favor. Controlled conflicts is the key to a successful, healthy resolution.

Controlled Conflict is the ability to handle disagreements, confrontations, or a debate without leaving the other party injured emotionally. Many people believe that a verbal confrontation is about winning or loosing. Therefore, in moments of frustration, fiery words and insults are being tossed. Resulting in the original problem being either lost in translation or over shadowed by anger and hurt feelings.

We should understand that the problem of conflicts does not depend on the outcome of who wins or looses/ who's right or who's wrong but learning from one another; as well as, testing weak points should be the goal. Let us not only contemplate on the use of this Paradox prescription, but exercise it. Maybe we can have relaxed relationships that build strong bonds and keeping individuality, rather than tearing someone down or silencing them.

"BIOFLAVONOIDS"

Bioflavonoids are weakly estrogenic and can help balance hormones and heavy bleeding when needed. Bioflavonoids reduce the body’s synthesis of estrogen or binding with estrogen receptor sites to increase the body’s estrogen when low. Bioflavonoids can reduce the cases of breast cancer. Asian and African cultures have lower breast cancer rates and have fewer menopausal symptoms due to diets that are enriched with bioflavonoids. They do not usually have these transitional problems. However; the in west, peri-menopausal and menopausal problems is out of control.
Bioflavonoids can be found in such foods as soy products, buck wheatgrape skin, cherry skin, the inner peel and the pulp of citrus fruits.

Understanding You...

Every health care professional should have a basic understanding of Anatomy and physiology. This includes knowledge of how the body is organized, how its parts function together, and how its structures and functions may be affected by disease and other factors. To build this understanding, health care professionals must be familiar with basic anatomy and physiology terms, body references planes, the content of the body cavities, body regions, and the principles of homeostasis.

But, everyone should take a little time to build a basic understandings about their bodies as well. You are the best to understand how you're feeling and with a little help and understanding of what's going on inside of you, You can treat simple illnesses or even powerful ones,... naturally.  For many ailments allopaths recommend pharmaceuticals, but pharmaceutical are not always needed, nor are they always the answer. They can effect our prayers, relationships with others, judgement, and our over all quality of life (negatively). You can treat or heal yourself "naturally" with little to no side effects. All it takes is the knowledge of "you;" "Your Anatomy and Physiology," your illness, and a comprehensive understanding of holistic health. Thereafter, you may find that Nutritional, Fitness, and Spiritual Exercises were the answer. Maybe an old herbal remedy or salve you remember from your parents or grandparents recipe box.

So, get started familiarizing yourself with "You" and you'll feel a sense of confidence walking into your practitioner office because you'll have some knowledge of what he or she is saying, and you will have the power of choice for healing.

What is Your Acne Telling You?

I really Don't know how accurate this Acne graph is, However I do agree with the great information given for acne control (I have added comments and suggestion).... This was a  great find on http://thebeautygypsy.com/what-is-your-acne-telling-you/ and I thought it was worth sharing and researching!

1 and 2: Digestive System — Eat less processed or junk food (Suggestion from Kalandra: Stop all processed and junk foods foods, you just never know in what chemicals, additives  and preservatives your flare up lies), reduce the amount of fat in your diet, step up water intake and opt for cooling things like cucumbers.
3: Liver — Cut out the alcohol, greasy food and dairy. This is the zone where food allergies also show up first, so take a look at your ingredients. Besides all this, do 30 minutes of light exercise every day and get adequate sleep so your liver can rest.
4 and 5: Kidneys — Anything around the eyes (including dark circles) point to dehydration (Comment from Kalandra: Dark circles also point to sinuses, allergies, and lack of rest). Drink up!
6: Heart — Check your blood pressure and Vitamin B levels. Decrease the intake of spicy or pungent food, cut down on meat and get more fresh air. Besides this, look into ways to lower cholesterol, like replacing “bad fats” with “good fats” such as Omegas 3 and 6 found in nuts, avocados, fish and flax seed. Also, since this area is chock-full of dilated pores..., check that your makeup is not past its expiry date or is skin-clogging. Suggestion from Kalandra, Stop wearing make-up altogether it only clog pores and allow in more toxins, resulting in more flare ups... Natural is Beautiful as you were created.
7 and 8: Kidneys — Again, drink up! And cut down on aerated drinks, coffee and alcohol as these will cause further dehydration.
Zone 9 and 10: Respiratory system — Do you smoke? Have allergies? This is your problem area for both. If neither of these is the issue, don’t let your body overheat, eat more cooling foods, cut down on sugar and get more fresh air. Also keep the body more alkaline by avoiding foods that make the body acidic (meat, dairy, alcohol, caffeine, sugar) and adding more alkalizing foods like green veggies and wheat grass juice. Another thing that most of forget – dirty cell phones and pillow cases are two of the top acne culprits and this area is what they affect the most!(Comment from Kalandra, Also dirty hair, oily hair, and sometimes hair in the face can be an irritant.)
Zone 11 and 12: Hormones — This is the signature zone for stress and hormonal changes. And while both are sometimes unavoidable, you can decrease their effect by getting adequate sleep, drinking enough water, eating leafy veggies and keeping skin scrupulously clean. Another interesting point: breakouts in this area indicate when you are ovulating (and on which side).
Zone 13: Stomach — Step up the fiber intake, reduce the toxin overload and drink herbal teas to help with digestion.
14: Illness — Zits here can be a sign that your body is fighting bacteria to avoid illness. Give it a break, take a yoga class, take a nap, take time to breathe deeply, drink plenty of water and know that everything always works out. (Comment from Kalandra, Fasting is a great way to combat stresses, illness, and nutritional over indulgences.)

*Get a food allergy test, Many natural foods can be the foundation for your breakouts as well.*
So the next time you break out or notice dark under-eye circles, look to your face map: your skin is probably trying to communicate on behalf of the internal organs. However, do remember that, as with all medical issues, it is always best to see your doctor or dermatologist for a proper prognosis. This is just a general guide to head you off in the right investigative direction – just because you break out between the brows doesn't always mean you have a bad liver!

Misbeliefs in Ones Thinking and Anger

Many times in relationships we have a false sense of demands, understandings, or perceptions about how life should be with companions mainly "friends and family." Most times anger, frustrations, and disappointments arise when we feel out of control of a situation, when people are not adhering to the things we think they should; which is plainly our level of understanding, but it may not be theirs; or possibly when things are not coming together as we want them to. The Emotion of anger is just as natural as breathing and so it happens. However; we must learn techniques on how to control our anger and not allow it to linger into resentment. The lingering anger is a spiritual issue that will deface spiritual happiness, in-turn; causing diseases of the mind, body, and spirit.
IF
-"You" are telling yourself your marriage is going to be this way or that way.... "You're" implanting misbeliefs.
-"You" are telling yourself your children will be like this or that, and They will never do that... "You" are (or) have implanted misbeliefs.
-"You" are placing all of your trust in others..."You" may be frustrated plenty, because "You" have implanted a misbeliefs.
-"You" are placing expectation on others, "You" may be highly disappointed, because "You" have implanted a misbelief.

HERE ARE A FEW TIPS TO HELP (GOD-WILLING)

Instead of Saying: My Wife is terrible because she even treats the dog better than she treats me.
Say: She is not treating me the way I would expect, but life with her is not intolerable, we have good times.

Instead of Saying: My kids are such failures, They are an embarrisment.
Say: My children are God-Given, and although I would prefer for them to act differently, I can look at the beauty that God has put in them, God knows best.

Instead of Saying: The people I have around me are a waist of my time, money and breath.
Say:The people that are around me, are around for a reason, so what and when I give to them, I give not as a barter, ploy or sway; but as a charity that I may find with my Lord one day.

*** This technique is not for abusive or oppressive matters, There is a difference.***
